Message from the Organisers
Dear Colleagues and Friends
Shawmae a Croseo i Gymru (Hi There and Welcome to Wales)
We hope that you and your families are well and safe during this pandemic.
We had hoped to welcome you all for a face to face conference in Cardiff, but with the rules and regulations not yet clear, this 22nd Annual Conference of BIOS is being held virtually on the 2nd and 3rd of July.
We therefore have great pleasure in inviting and extending a very (virtual) warm welcome to all who will be attending the conference.
We have put together an exciting and informative programme and hope that by having an excellent mix of National and International Speakers, we will attract delegates globally enabling global networking which will be an important part of the conference.
The conference will consist of almost 2 full days of live streamed content with online pre-recorded ( or live ) content, mini-symposia, lectures, posters and free paper presentations. We are hoping to broadcast the conference including the live sessions and panel discussions via a live studio in Cardiff.
The programme aims to start on the Friday morning with a dedicated session for physiotherapy and rehabilitation and then aiming to finish by the afternoon on the Saturday.
The Conference will be Inaugurated by Minister for Health and Social Services on the Friday (elections and government formation permitting) and we expect The First minister for Wales to address the delegates on the Saturday (elections and government formation permitting).
The Rt Hon Christina Rees MP Shadow Secretary of State for Wales is going to present the Lifetime Achievement Awards virtually.
We expect the Presidents of the British Orthopaedic Association, Indian Orthopaedic Association, BASK, BHS, BASS and SICOT to take part in the conference.
The Industry will have an opportunity to host a virtual Exhibition Booth to showcase their products and allow their key speakers to present at the breakout sessions. The Industry have been very helpful during the pandemic and has provided support throughout.
The social interaction which has been such an important part of previous BIOSCON’s is definitely going to be missed!
The local organising committee worked hard to put together this programme and I would like to thank the central executive team from BIOS for giving us the honour ( once again!) to host BIOSCON 2021.
We are privileged to work with our charity partner World Orthopaedic Concern.
We hope to see you all in the virtual world.
With warm wishes
Diolch yn fawr (Thank you so much)
